Installed Transfer Flow replacement tank

I just installed the Transfer Flow replacement tank with the help of my friend this weekend. We had one gas line that was tough to get off but once it came off it all went together very well. Transferflow put the kit together with everything that I needed and provided good instructions. I will do it again when I buy another truck.

That's cool. What is your capacity now? I run a 91 gal tank in the bed. It's nice not to have to stop for fuel for almost 2000 miles

It is a 47 gallon tank, it held almost 50 gallons, not the range that you have but much better then stock.

I believe that Transferflow already made the change on the new tank, the vent line didnt stick into the tank too far and it filled up 46 gallons before it shut off with the pump on full blast.

It took us about 2.5 hours to install the tank, we had trouble with getting one of the gas lines to come off of the tank and we took our time as we didnt want to break anything. You could use one floor jack, two makes it a little easier, it diffinately takes two people though. Other then that all you need is a socket set.

1) have the tank amost empty
2) remove rear tire on drivers side
3) remove skid plate
4) put jacks under tank and remove support straps
5) lower tank, disconnect power, and (2) gas lines, and (2) vent lines, fill tube, and vent tube
6) install sending unit on new tank after bending float for deeper tank (they provide a full size picture to make sure you bend it correctly)
7) raise tank and connect all gas lines and vents
8) tighten straps provided and fill with diesel

It didnt need to take as long as we did but since neither one of use had done anything like this before we read everything over and over to make sure we didnt miss anything, we also installed the rear air bags at the same time.

How much lower does it hang below the frame than the stock tank?

Thanks, Joe.

How do the fuel gauge and the message center function now? Did you get a lot more miles to empty?

Thanks, Joe.
I attached a few pictures, it is lower but it is still higher then the rear axle pumpkin, and it is the same height, maybe a little higher then the DPF filter on the other side of the truck.

It doesnt get alot more miles to empty, it starts off at 340 goes down to 290 and then goes back to 340, since I had to bend the float rod to reach the bottom of the tank it stays on full alot longer. I assume that onces it starts coming down off of full the miles to empty will adjust some but it wont be accurate because it is based off of a 30 gallon tank. I always use the fuel gauge over the miles to empty anyway since if I am driving highway I get 14-16 and in town I get 10-12, and when and tow I get about 8-9 mpg. I just need to figure out how many gallons I have at 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4 as I am still on my first tank of gas.

I bought the 8' bed model just so I could put a 98 gal across the bed tank in the back of my new truck. I love it, and transferflow rocks.

Thanks for the great write up!

Transfer Flow's facility is only a few hours from me so I plan to go there to a in the bed tank installed. I was hoping to get a tank that I could transfer fuel from, to tractors and such, while still being plumbed into my main tank, however they don't make such an animal.

I've been told to get the transfer/refueling tank first then get it plumbed into my existing tank by another vendor.
