rear end knocking....

rear end knocking....

i have a 68 f100 360, 3 on the tree... i get a knocking sound coming from the rear end when i push in the clutch and roll... example: rolling to a stop sigh or stop light. when i get back in the gas it stops.

any ideas?

Did it just start suddenly? Or slowly over time get worse?

Start out checking the u-joints. Put it up on jack stands so the rear wheels are off the ground, get under and rotate the wheels back and forth and watch the drive shaftfor any movement in the u-joints.

Check the u-joints first, put he truck on stands with the rear wheels off the ground, and rotate the wheels back and forth and watch the u-joints for any movement.
