I have an 03 f250 V10 that Ive had for about 4 months. recently developed a knock at about 2000 rpm and above. the weird thing is that is seems to be much worse when the car is in park. If you hold the rpm the knock will fade and sometimes stop alltogether. it will only knock when it is in drive above about 3k rpm. Also it doesnt seem to be consistatnt. sometimes it wont knock even if I floor it. It will also knock when it is cold and I first start it up but only for about a second.
Took it to my backyard mechanic and he determined that it was coming from the bottom end of the engine
truck has 107k and has never towed much. (I knew the former owner)
knock sounds like a woodpecker
Spun rod bearing???
