ok here goes. I have a 1990 f150 5.8 e4od 355 gears(4x4) 35 in tires . latly everything seems to be going wrong. anyway towed my camper (its smaller than my truck) to campground everything fine.headed home with no camper ,put cruise control on and it worked for about 2minutes and kicked off,would not ever work again. i get to a stop sign and truck downshifted hard(never done that b4) i took off and truck ran high rpms b4 shifting(hard) into 2nd gear.but every other gear was fine. didnt do it everytime sometimes shifted fine sometimes not. i get hme and checked fuses for cruise control everything was ok (still no cruise though) but my tranny fluid was low and very burnt.(i did a fluid and filter change about 4mnths ago the truck now has 149,000 miles on her) no leaking fluid at all. gonna change fluid again and this time drain torque converter too) checked fluid about 2 weeks ago and it was still red and full will know more when i drop the pan,but any ideas on why/what went wrong so quickly?and why /what went wrong on the cruise control? could they be related?I have noticed that when truck was cold and you put in gear it didnt seem like it wanted to move right away. any ideas? i do not have a check engine light on or anything. got it fixed. the speed sensor on the transfer case was not making a good connection. removed it and cleaned and re-installed and shes back to being a dream. trans shifts excellent and cruise works great. just wanted to let people know.
