Well with it being named Herman and my second personality being named Herman, then I would definatly drive that car. What was it like driving at 42hp car? Shame that there probably aren't to many around anymore though.

I did all the work that it needed for the previous 3 years that my sister owned it.
You know, she might think it 'cute'. Of course I would still be held responsible for any and all break downs and repairs.......

Thanks Andy, as you can see I used one of those pics months ago for my personal photo album.

I'll take a snap shot of the car from my video.

The car was a lot of fun.
I got my driver;s license with that car during a blizzard.
The turn signal arms used to freeze up in the winter and not lift up to show you're turning.

To get into Reverse you had to have good motor skills.
Push gearshift toward dash while Pulling on little cable pull cover and then motioning downward .

On Friday I used to buy $0.25 cents worth of gasoline and it would do me all night.

Ah! The good old days! My first car was a 67 VW Bug. I wouldn't mind having that car again today.

Mine was a '67 Le Mans. I kick myself everytime I think about selling it. What was I thinking?

My 18 year old doesn't own a car. He uses my truck and pays for his own additional insurance and gas. He's going into the Navy in 4 weeks so he won't be needing a car for awhile. I told him I'd give him my '70 Cougar when he finished his hitch.

She was beautiful. Red with white vinyl top. 326 under the hood that purred like a kitten until I stomped her gas pedal. Good times. I sold her when CA started cracking down on smog.

I'm trying to think what smog equipment you might have had on a 67 Le Mans? I had a 70 1/2 Camero with a 350, the only smog equipment from the factory was a vacuum advance retard system.

I know there were a few cars in the late 60's with smog pumps but I think they were relatively rare and few?

When CA started doing smog checks it appeared they would force pre-smog vehicles to pass some sort of environmental test. A high school kid had no way of paying for that kind of "upgrade" so I sold the car. Then I found out they were going to make older cars exempt. Chalk it up to youthful ignorance of how the system works.

Speaking of late 60's smog, I've got some old car magazines from '70. One of them has a big article about how to remove smog equipment from cars, so apparently there were a few of them out there.

Smog equipment was a pcv valve.

My first car was a 34 Ford tudor. Cost me $10.

That's about as close to free as you can get.

I found the August, 1970 Hot Cars Magazine article. It lists 4 different smog systems used on different brands. They were Transmission Controlled Spark, Air Injector Reactor, Positive Crankcase Ventilation, and Controlled Combustion System.

That's right, but 1973 all kinds of systems were implemented to comply with the new laws. Lowered compression being among them. And it was at that point that the backlash got serious because both fuel economy and performance were compromised. After EFI got more refined, the so-called "smog" devices were so integrated that removal often does more harm than good.

Remember the "smog pump?" Those things are great for blowing up beach toys and air mattresses.

Okay, I found a clip from a home movie.

That's me in the hockey gear getting a ride from my sister to the outdoor rink.
