Went to check the block on the engine I recently purchased and was expecting to find F4TE. It is a 94 engine out of a Lightning, so T and of course E for engine. The 3rd location is blank. Went back to doublecheck...and it is blank. I did a search and found nothing. Any reason this might be?
Probably a casting error. A 94 truck has to have a F4TE block, so what else would explain it?
Not sure what else would explain it. Was wondering if any 351W blocks ever would have come with no third digit. Only thing I was considering was if the block had been changed at one point. Seems like most of it is original. Almost every part I can find has F4 part numbers on it.
If I heard correctly, this is supposed to be a roller block...just hoping someone didnt change it.
An F4TE block I recently purchased had both the '4' and the 'T' missing, so I guess that this is not a rare occurrance. It may be from a run of blocks made at the same time in a particular plant, as the block I have is also a '94. Well, the truck was, anyway. A 09/94 build date for a '95 truck. Don't know which plant made the block. If Ford gets it's blocks like it does it's intake manifolds, etc, then it could be one of a number of block suppliers. Does make for a bit of uncertainty when trying figure out exactly what it is that you have.
Yea, thats pretty much what I am dealing with. Odd that this happens. I picked up the engine used...and honestly a lot cheaper than I expected...so was half concerned that there could have been some games played. Went through and found as many part numbers on every piece I could find. Almost everything is a perfect match. The oldest was the timing cover, but that would hardly be reason to complain.
