in my truck i have a 240-6 when i got it me and my dad went through the engine replaced a a bunch of parts, and the new ones that we got didnt look much like the old one's. for instance the old thermostat housing looked like it was made to hold a braket for an extra pully of some kind, and the pvc gromet is twice as big as any other one i can find dennis carpenter and junk yards. the clutch linkage sits funny so we think that my 240 may have been pulled out of a big truck. so i guess what i'm asking is were there any changes too 240's when put into a big truck?
Normally the 240 was not used in the larger trucks. 300s were used.
The 240 block is identical to the 300 in all respects. It differs in crank rods and pistons only and even uses the same bore. The clutch linkage may sit funny due to being a V8 Zbar? depends what the PO used.
The later parts will have upgraded engineering. If you want identical correct parts you will need to search for NOS.
