I'm looking for a tonneau cover, and I know we have several that are sponsors of this site, but I'm kinda cheap, I have seen some for $400 and some for $800. My local guy wants $350 plus installation, I want one with velcro and a latch on the tailgate, but not cover all the bed rails. Like I said, I want a good price, the ones on Flea-bay kinda suc, no I ain't interested in those.
I bought a truxedo cover for my 00 long bed 4 yrs ago when I bought my truck and I love it. I paid about 500 installed. It is a Soft vinyl cover with a perimeter frame that sits just on top of the bedrails with still enough room for me to tightrope walk around the edge if I need to. The rails are angled and use velcro to hold the cover down. at ther rear there is a solid piece that runs the width of the bed and with the pull of a string it pops up and can be rolled with one hand. The only negative is that it was set a little to low in the back and the gate cap popped off and sometimes was tough to close because of this until the cap went AWOL. when I replace the cap I will raise the tonneau frame about 1/4 inch to clear the cap as well as use some kind of pop-rivet or self tapping screw to secure the cap instead of relying on the internal clip system that is there now.
I have a x-tang tuff tonneau , the one with no snaps and it's a breeze to put on and roll up or take off. It covers maybe half the bed rail. Yes there's better ones out there but they cost more also and I did'nt want to spend a lot of money. I 've had three x-tang covers on different trucks and I think there of good quality.
We make several different model covers in different price ranges. Our economical cover is Truxport. It mounts on top of the pick-up bed and rolls up with Velcro. We also make the Original Truxedo and the Truxedo Lo Pro. They are considered the premium covers. They mount to the inside of the bed and also are attached by Velcro. We also have a new cover, called the Deuce that rolls up and also has a hinge at the front so you can get something out of the front of the bed without rolling up the whole cover.
The Truxport has a five year warranty and the rest have a lifetime warranty. Check around with different dealers because the price can vary from dealer to dealer.
I also have had Access Roll-up covers. I have three of them on different pick-ups loved them all easy to roll-up and easy to use. Their is another little bit cheaper of Access roll-up it's called Literider and just the same as Access. Plus very easy to install did mine in about 30to 45 min. all there is three clamps and then mount cover to rails. Just go to (www.agricover.com) and read about them. Mine cost about $380.00 from Jc Whitney.com and had shipped to me. I think Access covers are the best!!
I have a Truxedo Lo Profile and I love it. Second truck I have purchased one of these for and they take up almost no bed space and they leave you with 100% of your bed rails to use so that you can have locker rails, etc. without interference. You can remove the roll up cover in about two minutes if you need access to 100% of the box from front to back (I do this when I load my quad).
