Aklim can you tell me about your bts trans? Do you like the shifts,to hard to soft? Do you like the stall of t/c?
When I got the VB, it came with a plate that was modified by BTS. I was told which holes I would drill out to get harder shifts for that particular gear. I would assume that the trans is adjustable too. I would say it depends on what you want. Lets say you are drag racing and every thousandth of a second is critical, he would adust something to make it that way. However, if you are towing, you might not want it to bang into gears like a drag race vehicle. Mine was set up for towing and it is firm but NOT harsh. IOW, I don't have an issue with my stuff in the RV being rocked around every time the gear changes.
As to the stall, I think it is fine for what I am running now. However, being a PI converter, IIRC, based on my previous one in my Vette, you can have it restalled within 2 years. I bought that unit from someone and I didn't like the stall. It kept killing the engine or at least lugging it down too much for that cam. Changed the stall. In the case of the BTS trans, it runs just like it should. I really don't know what else I can do to it.
With stock tunes it was running about 50 degrees above 90 deg ambient. Howerver with the other tunes I am running and because I beat on it, I am getting about 65 above ambient in stop and go traffic.
I'll let you take my truck for a spin if you are ever in that area with your truck. That way you can compare what you have and what I have.
The shifts are soft when you are just putting along ( for instance if you have family riding with you), and they are firm and quick (not HARD) when you are on it. Leaving my girlfriends house there is an intersection and the way i go is a few downhill whoops and i like to floor it (just because i now can with my trans) and the transmission drops from 2nd to first, revs out to 3 grand, grabs second and locks the TC, throws you back like i couldn't believe and takes off. My only regret is how the TC slips when under moderate throttle and just putting along. I like how my 6.0's i drive have more of a "tight" feeling to the TC.
Also id like to add- I dont know if i just don't have enough power or its the transmission's doings, but when i mash it from a dead stop on dry pavement, it will not break them loose, chirp or anything. Which is good because i have very expensive tires and roasting them with banging trans shifts just costs me more money. But on a wet road, ha its 4hi!
