I have a 1999 F-350 Superduty 4x4 V-10 automatic Lariat that I am having a problem with a miss. I have owned the truck for approximately one year and have had a similar problem before. I replaced one of the coil packs that my scanner (innova 3100 ) said was bad along with all of the plugs. The only plug that looked bad was the one that the scanner said I was having a misfire on. The boots appeared to have been replaced previously before I bought it with none showing and cracks and all were very pliable. I just noticed a miss a couple of days ago. It seems to be more noticable at idle or light throttle and seems to clean up when at full throttle. I have replaced the throttle position sensor a few weeks ago when the scanner gave me the code. When I checked the codes this morning I got an 0308 and 0353. I switched the coil from cylinder 8 with the coil from cylinder one and reset the computer. I then only got a code for 0353 which my scanner program says is "ignition coil C primary/secondary circuit malfunction". What in the world is this telling me? I don't know where to start since swapping the coils didn't seem to change the location of the misfire. It seems to me that it is something beside the coil and I don't understand what the code 0353 is telling me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just went out and pulled the number eight plug since I had a miss fire code for it earlier today. The plug looked perfect. I am still needing help with the 0353 code "ignition coil C Primary/Secondary circuit Malfunction. Don't be afraid to just give me your opinion I am looking for any help.
I have no resource right now to look up the 353 code but if something told you you had a misfire on a cylinder - don't just look at the plug. Is it possible the coil pack is bad/shorting out? I had this happen on mine. Somewhere on this forum I found a post that told me the resistnaces for testing the coil with an ohm meter.
I went and test drove the truck for about 10 minutes to bring it up to temperature and try it at different speeds. The miss seems to be worse at about 1500 rpms when driving, but is still present even when the rpms are higher. I also noticed when I put it in gear it wants to almost die if I don't give it any throttle. I tried upluging coils and then putting it into gear and holding my foot on the brake. The miss is bad enough that I didn't notice any difference no matter what coil I unhooked. I am now getting a code of P0356 along with the original P0353. The PO356 which according to my program is Ignithion coil F Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction to go along with the origianla coil C Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction. I am assuming that the letters somehow correspond to the cylinders, but I can't seem to find a correlation between numbers and letters. The code book I have shows there to be codes from coil A to coil L which would seem to me to mean there could be something with 12 cylinders if that compares straight to cyclinder numbers. I am really confused now, but I do know my truck is running like s**t. I am going to keep fooling around with it on a trial and error system and keep posting what is going on until I get an answer or figure it out.
One last thing, could this possible be the catalytic converter. It seems like I would be getting some different codes if that was the problem, but I have had a truck in the past send me on a bunch of wild goose chases until I figured out the cat was bad and replaced it. The truck then ran like new.
I have a resource in my program for the code. I just don't understand exactly what it is telling me. The coil that it originaly showed bad I moved to another cylinder to see if the code would move to that cylinder. When I moved them the PO308 went away and it did not give me another cylinder code it started on the ignition code with letters.
update: I went and got a new coil last night and installed it in the number six cylinder or the F coil position. I checked all of the coil connections and found number Three to not be connected good. The codes I was getting yesterday went away ( P0356 and P0353). The truck still has a miss. I took it for a test drive and got a new code (P1151). My program says it is Lack of HO2S21 Switches-Sensor Indicates Lean. I am still waiting on some help.

Two things to check...
First...clean and/or replace the MAF sensor. If that does not cure the problem, then it could be one of the O2 sensors. Usually...if O2 related...you would have another error code indicating which bank or side.
I cleaned the MAF, installed new boots and wire on all COP's, and changed the fuel filter. The truck is running alot better but still has a slight miss, but no codes are present now. I did notice something while I was under the truck. I read a post that said to unhook the cat at the flange and run the truck to see if the cat was stopped up and causing the problem. I couldn't get the bolts loose on the cat flange, but did notice the muffler on the back side was pooched out real bad and seemed to be coming apart at the seams. The muffler is only one year old and installed by a local shop. I remember that when I took it in he said he didn't have the right muffler for my truck per the book, but said he had one for some other 1 ton rig and it should work. It appears to me that the muffler is causing a serious amount of restriction. I am ordering a new muffler today ( flowmaster 50) and going to have it installed as soon as I can get it in my hands. I have a feeling that is going to be my problem. I think some of the other code issues were taken care of by replacing the wire and boots on the COP and some of the fuel injector plugs on the drivers side have the catch broken and weren't on good.
I will post again as soon as I get the muffler on and update the progress on the miss.
I also was looking for the way to ohm out the COPs, but couldn't find any directions on the site. I did see where on person said it was in the haynes manual, but mine doesn't show how to do it. I checked one of the brand new ones before I put it on and checked all of the others as I changed the boots and all showed the same, so I am assuming they are good, but could they still be weak (140,000 miles). I am thinking of changing them in the near future, but don't want to waste the money if not needed.
I got a new muffler on today and it still has a miss. I stopped and got 5 new COP's and am putting them on this afternoon and they have 5 more coming in the morning. I will install them tommorrow. I will update after I have the COP's changed.
