I have the Continental ContiTrac TR's that Ford put on the truck. Yesterday while driving down the highway at 65mph I hear a loud pop and I had the left front tire go down. I get out of the truck to discover the sidewall had separated all the way around the tire. Not only was I disgusted but I was fuming mad since I had just hit 1500 miles. To make the situation even better when I called roadside assistance to come change the tire because I was too tired to even think about doing it they really messed up. I called in and was given an ETA of 1 hour or less but after waiting about 35 minutes I decided I would at least start it because I was bored and ready to get back on the road. I was able to complete the entire tire change before anyone had come to help. I called Ford back to cancel the roadside assistance to find that my call for help had been canceled before it was even dispatched. The original operator I talked to canceled out my call without ever dispatching it so if I would have waited for them I would have been waiting forever for nobody to come. The lady at Ford took the information of the first operator and gave it to her supervisor so maybe I'll hear something back on that one. The dealership swapped the tire for me this morning with no problems.<O</O
I hope that this was just one bad tire and not a sign of things to come. I haven’t heard of anyone having problems with these tires but this may be the start of it so keep an eye on yours. Of course I had no warning this was going to happen so chances are if it happens to you then you want either.<O</O
Man that is horrible for a practically new tire. I can't help but think how much worse it could have been, like towing a heavy load down a steep descent.
I can fully understand why you're mad, but I'm also glad you weren't hurt.
Glad you got back up and going. I've heard bad things about the Continental tires. I hope none of the others go out on you. The scary part is that Ford customer service responsible for road side assistance cancelled the call.
I guess that was definitely the best part of the whole situation, I was unloaded and wasnt towing anything. Definitely glad I didnt lose control of it either got stopped and pulled over without any damage except the tire.
I have Contitracs on my F350 DRW. With just over 15000 miles, I went in for an alignment and tire balance. Two of my six tires would not balance. In discussions with dealership now.
Hello all;
Even the car tires are junk. Ford needs to get away from Continental in general. I have a 03 SVT Focus that came with Continentals. At about 15k they were no longer round. It was a common thing to the point that more SVT's had the problem than didn't, Fords best solution was to try to pro-rate the tires and give something like 30% off a new set of Continentals. I refused on both the pro-rated value and the fact that "Why do I want to pay for and install a new set of garbage tires to do this all over again?
You called someone to change your own tire? Thats pathetic. You had a tire fail. Get over it.

Hey maybe he's realy old like me and it would be hard to do yourself or some other reason . Dont beat him up over it .The tire mfg. should pay to have someone change the defective tire if he choose's
I am not old just was really tired that day because I had already been up for about 24 hours and worked all night. The last thing I wanted to do and should have had to do was change a tire thats why I called for someone to come do it for me. Sure I can change a tire myself and have changed plenty including this one but I should have had to change it. Why pay for a warranty that has roadside service if you arent going to use it?
I am not that old either . I agree with you about the warranty too . You paid a good buck for those tires and some xtra $ 's for the upgraded one's as well !
