After 10 mins of normal driving conditions, the trans. temp gauge peaks and check gauge comes on. Fluid and filter have been recently changed. Any suggestions on what is causing the problem?
There is the possiblity of a bad sensor, but just to be sure confirm the heat. Pull over somewhere safe, crawl underneath and put you hand on the tranny pan. The overheat on the gauge is HOT, I think something like 250+, so you'll know if the trans is actually hot... If it is take to a shop, you've got problems.
I had the Trans Temp Sensor go bad. The guage peg to the top and then the trans strted to shift eraticly. Dealer said the sensor became contaminated. It is deep in the transmission. They updated my trans while they had it apart. Luckily it was still under warrenty.
