I cut out the kitty and muffler on my '03 6.0 PSD yesterday and welded in the new straight sections and it sounds AWSOME!!!
Thanks to those of you that responded with all of the encouragement and advice.
can you do that in TX and pass inspection? does it hel power also?
Not in Collin County I know that from experiance, not necessarily my own, but my friend's. You don't do a kitty delete for the power, you mainly do it for the sound.
After she's warmed up, she sounds like a jet idling on the tarmac. When I stab the throttle (which I REALLY need to stop doing for MPG reasons) it screams like a banshee!!! Nobody seems to want to be parked next to me in traffic, but EVERYONE looks and points!!! I have had quite a few people asking how I got it to sound so cool since I did the mod and I definitely do not regret doing it. (also, the wife loves the way it sounds too!!)

well the main reason for no cat is for lower egt's
I haven't noticed lower egt's but then again I didn't pay any attention as to rather or not it was lower or stayed the same, the only reason that I did it was for the sound.
I bought my 05 6.0 used with 32,000 miles on it. When I bought it, i noticed the previous owner cut out the cat and muffler and ran straight pipe out the back. It has stock pipe from the turbo but connects to a 5" pipe under the passenger seat. Awsome sound. I love my new jet.
