OK , so here the story, the drain plug on my HPOP started leaking about 40,000 miles ago. I replaced the o-ring and put some lock tite on it. Problem fixed. Yesterday as I pull up to my parents oil is pouring out the bottum of my truck. I check the plug and its loose again. So I go get a new o ring and retighten and put locktite on it. I thought it was fixed but on the drive home it started leaking again. The bolt is as tight as it will go. Does it sound like I need to replace the HPOP. Is it possible that the unit has cracked around the plug or something?

did you make sure the threads on the pump and the plug was dry of oil?? for lock tite to work there cant be any oil on the threads...just a thought...
Ok. So I redid the oil plug earlier today. Used Brake cleaner and made sure the threads were clean. Still is leaking. I am not a hundred percent sure its comming from the plug. Since i havent been able to go clean the engine yet. But wutever is leaking is pooling oil in the front of the valley. I check the other connections on the pump and they are dry. Is this just a sign of the pump failing? Wut else could be leaking up there. I looked at he turb earlier and there doesnt seem to be oil on it. Mayb the IPR?

Make absolutely sure it is not fuel. Not trying to insult anyone but a fuel bowl area fuel leak has often been mistaken for an oil leak. Also, have a look at the HPO line connections on the heads.
Well I redid the plug again. Went and washed the motor off. Drove it hard for a few miles, came home and no leak. Although I just went out and there were 2 tiny drops of oil on the ground, but I am assuming its just some off the back of the motor. The valley is dry except for somoe water from the wash down. Thanks for all the help. Hopefully its the end of the oil leaks for a while, they really get on my nerves, plus the Apartment complex does not like them either.
I am of the firm opinion that the o-rings are NOT what seals these fittings to the HPOP body at all. It's the LocTite.
I suspect International found out along the way that the HPOP's pressure was just too much for the o-ring'd fitting they designed into this system. If one doesn't use the LocTite, the o-rings fail at an alarming rate. Maybe one a week.
Thus, I think the LocTite was initially used to "augment" the sealing ability, but in reality, does the entire job. Anything that leaks past the smallest flaw in the Loctite's sealing will cause the o-ring to push out and fail.
The only thing I can see the o-ring really doing is holding the LocTite in place until it sets up.
But, to make the LocTite seal effectively, the threads have to be spotlessly clean of any oils or greases. "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" in this case!
I used the wrong LocTite (it's all I had on-hand at the time) and water-valve o-rings (sure to not seal effectively) when I last had an HPOP leak, just to "get me through" until the proper kit arrived. The kit is still in my center console, and still no leak. The really surprising thing is that the LocTite I used is a "weaker" strength formulation. It is still dry after maybe six months (or a little more).
But, most importantly, when I used the sealant, those threads were dry and clean of ANYTHING.
