You need to get the GRAY one with the part number ending with "B" your Ford dealer has to sell these at a very much reduced price due to all the trouble with the original BLACK ones-the GRAY ones can be had on Ebay as well-I recently bought 2 of them delivered to my door for under $50.00.

Why change it?, it's not a general maintaince item. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. You do need to have one in you glove box for a spare. And like Supercab said, use the new gray one.

Why spend 4x - 5x the money for a Blue/Black CPS when the new CPS's are cheap? I have the Blue one and had no problems (with truck chipped) and will eventually get a gray one as a spare (I have the old black (used) as a spare).

Dave, I talked to Jody and he mentioned some reason that he didn't like the blue CPS. I am running the gray one because my stock black one crapped out. However, the problem with the gray one is that nobody has evaluated it as to whether it changes things and whether it has the longevity. The black one from International is about 4 times the price at $100. If we can last a couple of years without people saying that their CPS is failing left and right (gray one), I will start to believe that it is a good unit.

BTW, your springs were super. Saved me a bunch. thanx again.

I may try the Gray one soon, just to see. Since it is cheap, but keep my other ones available. I have not heard any flack on the Gray one yet.

Glad to hear that the spring's worked for you...

Kupaa,

the gray one is the way to go now, for $15 to $28 depending on where you get it it cant be beat. You must have dug up an OLD thread that was talking about the blue vs black. the gray one actually looks like it has the better connections like the black so go with it. if none of the dealers on the islands have it order one from a sponsor here.

Kupaa,

Which Island do you live on? O'ahu? I use to live in Waipio Valley (O'ahu), Haliewa, and Mililani Tn. 25 yrs there, until I moved for a better paying job 15 yrs ago. Use to go thru the sugar cane fields to get to the good spots. Lucky to have the keys to the gates. Had a lot of good times in the mountains... and the beaches. Had a boat and loved to go diving (esp at night!), built my all my own fishing poles to go ulua fishing and such. And also placed a lot of nets out. Miss the place, wish I could come back, but sold the house there and could not afford to go back (yet). Still have a few friends there and family there.

My friend Paul (George) Cooke's father once ran Molokai Ranch. I believe they just sold one of their hunting cabins a few yrs ago. Not to sure what is happening to Molokai Ranch. He use to go over there a lot and I could not get away from work when he did. I was on Molokai only a few time's, once for my High School's band concerts. Would have loved to have fished over there...

PS, I used to work for Hawaiian Tel in Kailua a long long time ago. They wanted me to go to Hana, Maui to work, but I was only 22 and still wanted a life, wish I took that position... Oh well (deep subject), that's life.
