My fuel level sensor is stuck on E. I know the little guide is probably shot on the pump housing but so far I'm too lasy to pull it out and check. Any othe possibilities that I should check first?
Replace the pump and sending Unit and you will be good to go. Had the same thing happen last week. Didnt even hit the forum had the same thing happen in my f150 i drive 1000-1500 miles a week and it was weird the guaged dropped to empty i went to fill it up and it only took $20 and i scratched my head and went ot the autoparts store. ran truck till it started to sputter. Dropped tank in 100+ degree weather and replaced pump and sending unit. Back to new.
Some fuel mfgrs let fuel with high levels of sulphur hit the market & mess with fuel pumps & sending units that have silver contacts.
Chevron says "Techron Concentrate Plus" will remove the corrosion. So maybe it's worth a try. They claim their gas, with Techron in it (Texaco & Chevron) will clean up & prevent sending unit problems.
Don't know that it'll work, but maybe if your problem isn't wear, but corrosion on the sending unit contacts, the Techron Concentrate Plus, will wake it up!!!!
At the specified treat rate of 1oz per gallon, it's 10X the pump gas level!!!! It'll tidy up the fuel system & engine deposits as well. AutoZone has a rebate going, that'll save you a couple of bucks, if your of a mind to try it.
Let us know what you do & how it goes.

On the older models, like your 93' they had an issue with the float in the tank, replace it for about $5 - they usualy have a crack or hole in them and are full of gas causing them to sink always registering empty. This was a very common problem for your year model ranger and explorers of the same era -
I agree with Waves, the brass float gets a hole rubbed in it by the arm.You can
replace the float by itself, cheaper than buying the whole unit. You will need the
float and the pump mounting gasket. If your tank is full, you can raise the bed to get to
the pump.Losen the passenger side bolts.remove the drivers side bolts in the bed.
removed the three screws holding the fill neck, push the neck out.disconnected the
taillight connection under the bed and pickup on the drivers side and set a block or
jack stand between the bed and frame(or tire).that way the tank will not have to be dropped.Ive even done this on a truck with a camper on it.You can get the float and gasket from the dealer, cheap.
