My thanks to Ken Payne for adding this forum!! I own a 2000 Excursion with a V10 and thought it'd be cool to have a forum dedicated to this engine.
Can someone post the specifications of the engine? (bore/stroke,comp. ratio, valve timing etc...) And how about a dyno chart for the engine!!! I love all that all that geeky technical stuff.
Would also like to here from people who have added performance add-ons and the results! Thanks!!
Thanks NoMo. I went and had a grand ole time. Lotsa cool geeky tech info on the engine, as well as a whole bunch of other stuff!!
Still no luck with dyno charts. If you run into some, please post 'em! Thanks!
Check it all out at http://suv.training.com/ecxursion/html/spcfm.htm
NoMO those are great!! Thanks! Just what I was lookin' for. Question: You chipped your V10. What grade gas do you have to use now? I see the Hp & Trq gains but was there a MPG difference? What else was done to it? Is it just a chip? Man, that's cool stuff just what a technical geek like me needed!!Thanks! You gotta post those prominantly so all the other technical geeks like me can enjoy 'em!!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 04-Dec-01 AT 00:02 AM (EST)]Unfortunately, that's not my site nor my truck. It belongs to a guy who posts around the 'Net as WAWII. My truck is pretty much stock... for a while anyway.
Sorry, I've not scanned the dyno charts for MY truck. I've had some PC problems that I've been trying to work out and I've just not had the chance to scan/upload the graphs.
OK- it's very quick & dirty, but here it is...
[a href=http://www.candle-creator.com/nomo/f350/dyno]Dyno stuff[/a]
The dyno1.jpg is the first run (done in 3rd gear). Note that the truck hit the speed limiter before it hit the RPM redline. The curves are good and flat even though they are truncated.
The dyno2.jpg is an overlay of the 1st run (3rd gear) and the 3rd run (in 2nd gear). Using 2nd isn't a good way to do a run and get accurate numbers, but it's the only way to get information in the upper RPMS where the V10 really starts to make power.
The text file is the "calculated" (actually extrapolated) numbers based on a total of 3 dyno runs- 1 in 3rd gear and 2 runs in 2nd gear. They come out pretty close to Ford's stated maximums and at the right RPMs.
Other info:
Absolute Barometric Pressure: 29.21 in. Hg.
Vapor Pressure: 0.63 in. Hg.
Intake air temperature: 99.7°F
Gear Ratio: 40.91 RPM/MPH (run 1) 66.2 RPM/MPH (runs 2 &3)
Correction Factor: 1.05 SAE
I'm running a SuperChip and the Banks PowerPack. The Chip requires 92 octane (or better) as it re-tunes the timing and fuel mix and the engine will "ping" at lower octane fuels.
After the Chip I did do a dyno run and gained 4.5% HP (10.4 HP) and 3.7% in Tourque(11.9 Ft.Lbs.). I've still not made it back to re-dyno the truck since the Banks PowerPack though. Part of the problem in dyno'ing an auto is you don't get real accurate numbers as you have to make your runs in 2nd gear.

(If the links go dead after December, sorry as I've not yet set up a new WEB site and I'm dropping the old ISP provider)
The MPG chart can be found [link:ic.net/~wawii/MPG/00F250SD/|here] it's not as up to date as I have, but when I set up my new site I will update it.
