Do not know what county you live in Washington. You may need it to pass inspection in your state.

It blows air into the exhaust to help emissions when the engine is cold.

whadda ya know

no evil empire emissions needed. and dave if its only for when the engine is cold could that be a factor that the engine dies after i start it up? i can restart it and it runs fine an it doesn't matter if i let it warm up or try to take off right away. i guess the real question is? can i take that messy snake nest out without much trouble?

The only prolem with getting rid of the air pump is that the cat converters wont last as long. If you have no cats, then there is no problem at all with removing the air pump.

did some research and the air pump is outta there. the amount of emissions from a cold to operating temp engine is minimal to the hassle of a system that was created to shut the epa up. its a system that actually uses more fuel to help reduce so called less emissions.
