Get the transcommand if you can. You will notice agreat shifting inprovement and it will make your tranny last longer. What it does is bump up the fluid pressure when you are towing or under hard acceleration. This help your transmission because a "lag" between shifts when towing or accelerating hard will cause your trany fluid to heat up, and can eventually ruin the transmission. Ford (and every other company) makes a big fuss about aftermarket products, but these thing do NOT void the warranty. Banks does not sell anything that will void the warranty. I have one, it works very well. Benjamin
I'd be concerned about trans temps during loaded/towing operation, the way the stock 4R100 slips during a shift. With the adequate system of coolers provided by Ford for the stock transmission, why would you be concerned that the stock trans might overtemp? I admit I'm not an expert on the transmission. Besides shifting, what else cause heat buildup?
I don't feel the need to rush out and add a trans temp gage. Although it would be interesting to compare temps while loaded, with and without Transcommand!
Well, I ordered the Banks Stinger and Transcommand today. I should have it installed in the next two weeks. I'll let you know how I like it.

Yeah, the way I figured it, I only drive about 9K a year, so the waranty time will run out before the mileage. I looked at the long-term risk and figured the chance of the tranny heading south during the next 26 months is very low. However, if I can prevent a little wear and tear now by installing the Transcommand (not to mention the better performance ) I'll come out a head in the long run.
Ya takes yer chances either way.....

I pull a 28' fifth wheel with my '01 F-250 V-10 CC 2WD.I have the whole Banks setup on my truck(Power pack,Trans command, and Ottomind)Haven't noticed much of a change with the Ottomind, but the Transcommand is worth the money. It shifts better and has a lot more holdback on the downgrades.I also had the engine and trans temp gages installed at the same time.We pulled the trailer to Spokane and back from the Sac area,(by way of Bend, not up I-5)about 2200 miles total, and the trans never got to 200dF. The engine oil temp only got up there when going slow in traffic, and this was with the stock oil coolers.Oh, and averaged 9.9 mpg while running 60-65mph where possible.
