got a 06 f150 with 5.4 and just wont start to save its life it starts with full crank for a few seconds and if it dont start i can key it off wait for a few and then key on then it will start but run rough for a few seconds till it clears out.its been to the dealer 5 times they replaced all the injectors and spark plugs and the mass airflow sensor and still does it can anybody help me out, and how do u go about a factory buy back
is it blowing any smoke when it is running? sounds like maybe a bad sensor somewhere... possibly an o2 sensor? does it differ from a hot start vs. a cold start? if it has had 5 trips to a dealer with no luck, i would first start with a different dealer. do you have any codes at all?
The state in which you live determines what conditions need to be met to make the mfg. buy back your vehicle. Usually it's so many trips back to the dealer for the same issue. Look up your state's Lemon Laws on your Attourney General's web site, or state consumer protection site.
Psyco, Find the 1-800 number in your book and call it and explain whats going on . Actually document the times it's been in the shop.. I called back in January about an ongoing issue I been having. That was at 24,000 miles I just recently have gotten it fixed right this time ( last week) and now it has 45,000 miles way out of warranty and since it was documented Ford Actually paid the bill which was almost 2,000 bucks. But I'm still not keeping it I'm actually working with someone as of now to a possible buy back.

I had this happen to me about five times. It does it more often before it's fully warm. I'm not sure about smoke though.
i had this happen on a dodge i had... turned out that that particular engine had 2 temp sensors... one controlled the gauge, and the other went to the pcm. well, the one the sent the signal to the pcm was unhooked somehow, and it would only start when the engine was cold..... after it warmed up, it would start really rough. once hooked back up, all was well. im not sure if these 5.4's are like that or not, but its just another quick simple thought. i like the kiss method, and try easy cheap fixes first.
Are you getting a check engine light? If so, have the codes pulled (or do it yourself with a scan tool/code reader - pretty cheap at most auto parts stores, but worth its weight in gold).
I own an '04 F-150 bought in '03, and have had a great deal of (bad) experiences with
my own dealership here in Colo. Spgs., Colo., namely, Phil Long Ford, but that's another story...
Sounds to me, tho, like you have a fuel pressure problem. If it won't start the on the
first attempt, you may not be getting enough fuel pressure to the injectors in the first
place for them to deliver into the intake manifold. I'd try checking the fuel pressure
first with key on, engine off, and see if you're getting the required pressure (see the
new F-150 Hayne's manual for specs.) and if not, then I'd think you're having fuel
delivery problems -- that is -- check from the fuel tank thru the fuel lines, filter, and
up to the fuel rail where there is a quick connect fitting that has given me a problem in the past when (repairing the repair work? done at my local dealership) on the intake
manifold. Also, there is a vacuum line on my '04 that runs from a vacuum port behind
the intake manifold to the fuel pressure sensor located on that fuel rail. It looks like a
small wire about 1/4" in diameter, but is actually a vacuum line that runs to the sensor on the right side (when looking into the engine compartment) end of the fuel rail from
the vacuum port. It should be sucking air (vacuum) when pulled off of the sensor while
the engine is running.
Honestly, tho, I have lost ALL FAITH in Phil Long Ford's Service Department. It would behoove you to get down to an auto parts store and purchase a Haynes Manual for
the new '04-up F-150/Expedition pickups. ...a wealth of knowledge packed into these
little books.
