idle help

i have a 01 ranger 4.0 with auto trans. when im sitting at a light the idle will randomly drop then go back up. any sugestions?

Does the idle drop low enough to stall the engine?

How about when the A/C is on, what does the idle do?

If the heater is set in the defrost mode or the defrost & floor mode, the a/c is on. The idle will fluctuate as the a/c's compressor cycles on and off. Turn the heater off or to floor mode only and see if the idle problem stops.

yes i did find that it inly happened when the a/c is on or the defrost. should it drop that much?
