Under the hood wiring
I'm getting ready to do a swap of engines and interiors on my 88's and I was thinking (dangerous if you ask my wife) that it probably would be a good idea to swap out the wiring harness (just because it's 20 years old) and I'm not liking the idea of trying to trace a short in Michigan's winter's anymore. I've been looking for a harness, but the cheapest is around $500 (ouch). Anyone have an idea where I can go to get an "inexpensive" harness? Otherwise, I'll probably just start swapping wires out one by one......

Yep get some marine rated wire and swap em out one by one thats the cheapest way to go. Well not the cheapest but I always recommend marine wire if it is something you are going to keep it will last forever even with road salt all over all winter! The wire is tinned the entire length it is more expensive but you won't end up spending $500.00 on harness that will end up in the same condition as what you have now!

Good luck finding a complete harness. I've been searching for a vacum harness for my '89 for years. Finally found one, but couldn't get to it before someone else claimed it.
Wiring, I've been getting what I can from yards hoping to make a complete one someday.

Are you looking for the hard vacum lines pams red? If your auto parts store doesn't carry it. Check out a pest control place or construction sites the tubing they put in the walls for pest control works good for vacum lines plus it's Ford blue!! I found about a half roll of it at a construction site(they must get paid by the foot because I alway see 20+ feet laying around!)
