Went by my dealership today to pick up something and the service manager told me to bring the truck to him for the first oil change an he would reflash the truck. He said that FORD has come out with a new flash to help with the poor mileage that the 6.4 is having. Anyone heard of this and does it help??
I am getting 9-10MPG with a 6000 lb trailer in mostly city type driving. I was getting 12-14 MPG with a 2005 6.0 with Hypertech.
Haven't heard of it yet. The TSB's listed on this site don't list it either. I have 4,000 miles on the clock in mine. I've learned that this thing can REALLY drink the fuel when towing and in stop and go traffic. I've also learned that on the highway, if you keep it around 70 mph, the miieage isn't too bad. I drive 23 miles 1 way to work with 20 of it being on the interstate. When I don't tow, I average right around 16.5 mpg. Towing 13,000 lbs. boat though, whole different story.....8 or so.
Here is a link to the TSB of the most recent flash released. I believe it was released late last week, although is does not list anything about fuel economy improvement.
It'll be nice if it does though. My work truck is getting flashed this friday at the local ford dealer under warranty. When I called to schedule it, they wanted to charge me $100 to bring it in, so I told her about my concerns with the unnacceptable idle during regen.

I told them that the truck sometimes surges when it's in regen and I'm braking. It's true, but it is also the only way I got them to apply this TSB free of charge. Here's how the invoice reads:
"Driveability Concern
Customer states brakes does not step down idle when in regen check cause and advise
Retrieved codes-P1184,P1780. Look up oasis and found TSB 7-17-03. Flash PCM/TCM/IC to latest calibration cleared codes, rerun self test - pass."
Everythings great so far. It went into regen shortly after, or when I left the dealership; so my reported MPG sucks right now.
