HELP !!!! I need some info PLEASE !

My axle code sticker on the drivers door says '34'. And my GVW says 9,600-10,300 (depending on axle ratio I'm guessing). But WHAT is this axle ratio ? I'm sure it's not a limited slip. I've been to the Ford site (wow, how UNhelpful was THAT). I've been to VIN decoding sites (they are for Rangers, F-150's, etc). I can't seem to get ANYONE to answer this. I posted on this website under 'axles, transmissions' but my post was 14,721 back from the first page so I doubt anyone saw it. Is there a site I can go to decode my '34' axle ratio ? Thanks, Ken

I'm at work, so I do not have access to my CD right now.

Why don't you crawl under your truck and read the tag on the differential?

OK, not to be toooooooo picky BUT...

It won't say anything with a colon between it. : <- That. The right way to write it is 4.30:1.

It will say 3 <space> 73 is the ratio is 3.73:1 or 3.73's. If there is an L after the 3, then you have an Limited Slip unit in the rear axle.

Same goes for 4.30's.

I found it easier by looking on the tag on my front diff. I also looked up your code. I do not have it listed. Are you sure you read it correctly? What year is your truck?

BTW Steve Nash, 4.10's are not available for the V10.

Although, I wouldn't mind having them...

HELP !!!! I need some info PLEASE !

Been down and around the pumpkin numerous times, but for the life of me, I don't see a tag. I know what they look like, I've checked all the other Fords I've ever had. And there's been LOTS of them. But for some reason there just isn't one on the big, white Supervan. So thanks in advance for all your help !! I have done numerous searches on the web, called my dealer (what a joke), looked on Fords site, and on and on. It doesn't seem like it should be this hard.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Apr-02 AT 10:16 AM (EST)]I think the best options are:
a) consult the owner's manual if it still exists
b) crawl under the van and look at the axle tag- never mind you said it's not there!
c) call Ford customer service and see if they can help

Nevernuf, good job!

Jen04, I had been looking under Super Duty/Excursion. I never looked under "van". I did when I got home tonight. I found it but nevernuf beat me to it!
