yeah, my g/f brother has a 6.0 and hes getting stage 2 injectors and I can't let him have a faster truck ....
For what you'd pay for those mods you could get a 600cc sportbike (or a CRUISER for that matter!!) and tear him up. Don't bring a knife to a gunfight....
Racing the truck is just a different kind of enjoyment. I road race the 600cc sportbikes and that's fun. I can take my 1000cc sportbike to a sub-10 second run down the 1/4 mile as well. But, for me, there's just something different about a 4 ton truck that can run 13's or 14's...it's not supposed to be able to do that! My 1000cc bike is supposed to be able to run 9's.
guess I've just seen too many accidents with friends on the losing side... those were on the street though - track racing is OK, but I guess it's just not me to race my truck - to y'all that do, ENJOY!!!
And JT harvey runs 15.0 on stock injectors as well.
Let's not forget, that is about all that is left that is stock on his except the block. I take that back, I believe he is running a stock steering wheel.
My truck is pretty much stock... However the only thing he has i don't is a Spearco and HPOP. He mentioned that switching from Brand R oil to Schaeffes picked him up .4 sec in the 1320, as that was all he switched since he was at 15.4. With my smaller turbo and putting my 305s back on, i think i could nudge 15.1, and after BO/custom tuning, watch out 14s. However this sound system idea has gotten into my head and thats going to slow the BO fund down.
Ive been debating putting 2 small subs in my truck, these 6X8's can't handle chit for sound. What were you thinkin for sound? the stacks are a nice sound, but when Im on the road for 5 hours heading up north, music is nice than hearing my exhaust for 5 hours straight, plus to me(im going to get a sound clip) the stacks arn't that loud. Maybe because the stacks are over the cab and in the front seat all the time.
Yeah, I have replaced the stock front door units with some Pioneers and have a power amp under the back seat. One of the first mods I did to the truck. That stock system just sucks. On a positive note, nobody wants to steal the stock head unit CD changer.
I got pioneer 3 ways all the way around with no ext. amp. The headunit is an 500$ alpine, that i got to sound ALOT better than the stock radio did with the pioneer speakers. Ive been debating trying the amp route, but if i didnt like it then i just bought an amp to throw away. When i was younger and stupid, i had a very nice system in my old crown vic. 2 12" Image Dynamic subs, in a box that i made with i dont even remember the amp. It sounded beautiful, it was quite loud, but still sounded good, i had it turned down alot so it just sounded nice, not annoying loud. When i bought my truck, my brother wanted the subs(he is 16 now), so I gave them to him, I had no use for them, my back seat is for people not speakers lol.
I am not too sure what im getting but i do think the head unit is going to be the Kenwood DDX7019, indash 7" screen. I can play my new iPod seamlessly on it, and watch DVDs, play CDs etc. Its nothing i need but i want it, therefore i gotta have it. The speakers im going to leave for now and see how it sounds, thinking of a single 12" sub behind the seat in a slim box and some amp i was looking at on crutchfield. Not to hijack Kenneth's thread, so check out this thread i got going.
