driving to work the other morning and truck went into engine failsafe mode, luckily got to side of the road and it just stalled, i tried to reset the computer to no avail , so i called ford roadside towing, they showed up in 3 hours, and my first trip to the ford dealer began, its a 2005 expy limited 4x4 with 13,000 miles, still under warranty, the dealer kept the truck overnight and i did my research on this website and found a problem with the throttle body sensor, so i went beack the next day expecting to get stroked but to my surprise the mechanic said he knew of the problem , replaced the part and i was on my way , all covered under warranty, i went on a road trip with the family the next day about 300 miles roundtrip and got between 16-17 mpg on the highway, much better than what i used to get , so all in all i want to thank the site for info and tell of a good dealer experience, this is my 3rd ford a 90 bronco and a 99 expy xlt previously and this was 1st problem with ford and i am happy to say my next vehicle will be a ford also
Fortunately you were still covered by the 3yr/36k mile warranty I guess. The TPS or TB sensor seems to be a recurring problem with 2005-6 Expy's. As you will read from my posts, my problem was related to the ircm and left bank cam solenoids. Glad your issue was resolved to your liking. I'm not so sure about buying another Ford lol.
