Autometer cancels optional LED upgrade
Regarding the Phantom II gauges by Autometer, they match the interior of the Superduty quite well with the outlined black numbers, bright red pointer with a black center and offer backlit numerals just like the trucks gagues. I believe that is what their marketing departments goal was after, as the font style even looks the same, however Autometer offered the option of making the background color green instead of white to match the trucks' interior scheme by sending the gague in to their service dept for the upgrade since it can't be readily done by the end user.
The Phantom II gagues have on-the-board mounted bright white LED's and require special attention and tools removing the bezel and pc board mounted LED lights in order to change out the white lights to green.
I am disappointed in the cancelation of this fine upgrade for those wanting a GREEN backlit gague to enhance the Superduty's green glow OEM gagues (and most other interior designs I might add.)
When installing 4 gagues side by side, I feel the bright white lighting that the dial gurus at the factory chose can be distracting and unfriendly to those on long night treks. Don't get me wrong, the white looks smart but just doesn't match the interior and currently there is no way to order them already green backlit, that's too bad because I thought they had the market's 'spot-on' gagues for the Superduty enthusiest.
The only way you, me, or anyone else can get this feature is if there is enough folks out there that let Autometer know that guys like the green. Who knows, maybe we will finally have a factory looking aftermarket gague afterall?

The Di Procols look REALLY close to factory, but they dont offer alot of different gagues.
The ISSPROs look really close too, but you can get a ton of different gauges. Heck they even have one for air pressure that I plan on using for my Onboard air, and it looks like OEM.
Auto Meter management has informed me that they are continuing the Green LED upgrade on their Phantom II gauge line up.
There was some confusion in the sales and service department regarding this service.
Management also mentioned: "You have a good concern/question about getting into the gauge a second time, however I actually have more confidence once we have been into them seeing as they get one-on-one personal attention and are fully tested and inspected prior to shipping."
So if anyone is still interested in this, Cost is $25 per gauge and is done by sending your gauge to Auto Meter.

the DIPRICOLS are also a perfect match, and they also are GREEN at night and look amazing, if i saw them first, i would have ordered them instead. but they are quite a bit more money, still worth it IMO to have a matching interior.
