That is the snorkel that you are looking at.
The snorkel is about 1 1/2" from the hole.

Ha man, the grill thing is a snap.
Take of the 4 screws on the top, and then take a long flat screw driver and lift up on the bottom of each clip, one at a time, you have eather 4 or 2 clips at the bottom, I have 2, then the grill comes right off. Your not going to break it. garyekuy(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
Any before and after performance numbers? I did a mod like
this on my company car (a Regal) and it did not affect the
butt dyno. Gotta try it with the G-Tec. On some cars it is easy-
intake is behind the headlight so you pull the whole assembly
at the track.

Drove it to work today, and you can feel a difference
in the "Zip" when you pass, or just speed up. You can also hear the difference when you start up.Think the MPG will be different as well. We will see. And I don't think water will be a problem. Will keep
everyone posted.
Looking at that picture, you might want to run some reflective insulation in a sheet between the filter and the radiator/radiator hose. Looks like the hot air coming through the radiator blows close to the intake track.
