We need a few more details to help you. Have you converted to power brakes and if so what donor system? If you are talking about the stock system, the sensor on the master cylinder is actually the brake light switch.

Find a wiring print or call the maker of your wiring harness if it has been replaced with new aftermarket. The ones I'm familar with are on the corvette and the 1982 is in the proportioning valve. I don't know if all GM is this way. The way it works when pressure becomes low enough the switch provides a ground and the powered light turns on. You wouldn't want power to the switch, if it shorted it could start a fire with brake fluid. I would try a 12 VDC instrument panel light bulb. Have a great day,chuck

Morning Joe....I just did this on my friends truck. He has an aftermarket Steering Column so all the wiring from the lites and the Brake switch went to the column wiring. Do you have the original column?
