Question Engine lifting points?

Im about to pull a 351 windsor out of my truck and im not sure where the safest points are to attach the cherry picker. I know of the carb plate and im not sure if my Aluminum Edelbrock intake will hold the weight of an engine with a carb plate. I also know of attaching the little plates under a head bolt on either corner. What is the best method? Is the carb plate safe with my intake? Is there another methode? thanks matt.

It doesn't take much to lift it. I usually use one bolt through the chain and screwed into the front of the head on the driver's side after I take the power steering pump loose, and one bolt through the chain screwed into the rear passenger side head.

Do what franklin says. When I did mine i put the chain in the back off the drivers side head and the front of the passenger side head and just pull her out.

Same pattern for the 300 I6. I recently pulled 3 of these out with a C-6 attached to them, No problem at all. Passenger side rear of the head, and Drivers side front of the head.

i've also pulled a front and rear intake bolt to hook a chain, never had any problems. just make sure you get one from the drivers, and the other from the passenger side.

Like Franklin Said, chain connected to the heads. It easier in most cases to go ahead and pull the tranny with it. Makes it easer.

Yea they are! I actually pulled the engine out about 3 weeks ago so I dont think advice for getting it out is needed. I just used really heavy chain and Grade A bolts in the heads. came out easy! And FYI Blue56F100 Its four wheel drive I dont believe it would be any easier. I just Lifted the tranny with a jack and stacked concrete blocks under it.

Your right, with 4x4, leave the transfer case and tranny behind. Don't have enough room and very ackward to handle has a whole assembly. But 2x2 it's easier to pull them together.
