What fix's have any of you discovered for the poor cooling of the 05 ex a/c especially when stopped. Mine is awful and ford is no help as always. I don't remember my o3 ex as having this problem. Thanks
I do alot of idle from time to time. Mine blows supper cold unless I idle more then 45 min or so, then it doesn't blow as cold. it stay cool but not as cold as before. I do notice When I rev the engine and hold it steady alittle over the 1000 rpm mark, it gets cooler. I guess it need air to be moving on the condesnsor or something.
ps for the serria groupies... Its my money i'm burning so what,

Definetly clean your condensor & between radiator & condensor. I found a mat of debris between radiator & condensor and now I freeze with AC on low (blower) and hardly ever notice any change in engine temp even while towing. Be careful with the aluminum fins of both the radiator & condensor a fin comb tool works to "open" closed areas of flow where rocks have bent them closed. Also see if your compressor is cycling on and off at idle. If so you might need to add a can of R134a to your system.
Good luck, Rich.
Thanks for the replies, My X has been to the dealer 3-4 times and each time they say yes it is in specs but agree that it does not cool as well as others. Then they give me the manager's truck is the same way speech. Mine blows at 48 to 50 degrees when in the shade of their shop but on 92+ outside it blows over 50 degrees. My windows are darkened and all fluids ok as well as clean cond. At stops it gets quite warm inside on those 92+ days. My 03 X did not have this problem. Thanks
My `05 Ex does the same thing. The dealer replaced some things, none of which made any difference. We don't notice much problem in our truck until it hits 95-100, and my wife is sitting for 20+ minutes in the school carpool line. I installed an auxillary e-fan, but haven't wired up the switch yet. It's been cooler here this year, and they moved the school start back to the end of August.
The other thing to consider is installing a high idle switch, but it only works when the trans is in park. Plus it will guzzle gas...
Maybe you should check the heater core cutoff valve.
Earlier F-series Superduty's (like mine) didn't even come with the valve, but I think the X's did. And I'm sure, your '05 should definitely have one... Ken?
If both heater core hoses are hot when the truck is up to temperature, the valve is stuck open. Or not getting vacuum.

You are correct, 05's have 'em.
I wouldn't delve too far as you may miss the obvious. If it works well at speed but not when stopped, I would strongly suggest checking the condenser again. It sounds as if it is a matter of airflow.
