I'm in the market for a tranmission cooler. I was not aware that some SDs have a separate cooler already installed instead of going though the radiator. By looking under the truck, how can I determine this?
On a serpate note, how do I add a sig? I looked in my profile section and do not see anything for it. Any suggestions?
Chris,
I think all SD's diesels have the external cooler in front of the engine radiator but, they still have the lines that run into the radiator. To see if you have an external trans cooler look between the AC radiator and your engine radiator, the cooler will be the small aluminum colored cooler close to the bottom.
Hope this helps.

That's the power steering fluid cooler. What year is your Super Duty? What engine?
Click on 'User CP' on the left side of the screen in the 1/4" high, screen width blue colored field. On the left hand side you'll see many options for adding your signature, profile, various options, etc.
Thanks for confirming the cooler. It's on a 2005 SD 6.0l

A 2005 6.0L has a cooler in the radiator and a large aux cooler out front. This is an EXTREMLEY good system. Don't mess with it, it's about as good as you can get right from the factory.
I too am looking for a drop in trans temp. I am already running a factory tech valve body, B&M trans pan and royal purple ATF. Moving the stock cooler during the semi hidden winch kit did drop the temp a little. I am considering a derale cooler and replumbing the soft lines with braided SS.
