V 10 Stalling at startup
My friend who bought my 99 sd v10 has been having a problem with stalling immediately upon start-up.
He can get it going by giving it gas but it will stall if he doesnt.
Fuel filter was just changed after the initial problem was encountered.
Any ideas?

Mine is doing the same thing. It doesn't do it all the time just ocasionally. Now can someone tell me what the IAC valve is? And please keep us informed as to what the problem is.

V 10 Stalling at startup
IAC is short for Idle Air Control. It controls the amount of air the engine uses at idle. It's located to the rear of the intake manifold, about center of the engine. It's held on with 2 bolts and uses a small gasket. There is a wire harness attatched. It's about the size of a plastic film canister with a aluminum base which bolts to the manifold. It's quite a reach so you may need to crawl up into the engine compartment. Be careful not to drop one of the bolts. I did and it ended up in never never land.

Well my friend got the truck back Friday and all is well so far.
Apparently the IAC valve is somewhat serviceable as the mechanic blew it out with compressed air.
He told my friend to drive it and if it happens again he would replace it.
I'll let you know if it acts up again.
