I bought this parts Panel two weeks ago. It was in very bad and unrestorable shape. Every body panel on this truck was rusted through. The main dog house had rust in the wheel wells (inside and out), roof gutter, windshield area and the bottom of the instrument panel. The front doors were also rusted through at the bottom. The rear doors were in worse shape than the fronts. Almost all hinges were rusted through and both doors were previously hacked on the inside. I took off every saveable/useable part I could. I even cut the top halves of the front doors for someone who needs them to do a chop. I tried giving away the frame locally, but there were no takers. So, the time came to take it for a ride.
See below.
This is what it looked like when I dragged her home.

The truck was so rusty and weak that it broke apart when it was lifted a few feet in the air. It almost fell back down onto my trailer.
It's sad that I had to scrap vintage tin, but at least I took every useable/saveable part that I could. At least I'm not like others who scrap good donor vintage tin without removing any useable/saveable parts. The only parts that I wished I had time and equipment (torch) to remove is the unmolested transmission crossmember and the running board brackets.

someone hand me a tissue...that's sad but what can you do. It's like when you favorite 4 legged friend has come to the end of the road, you have to do what's best.

When I bought my original panel it came with a parts panel which was a total rot bucket except it had a better roof than the main panel. I cut the roof off of the donor the body pretty much fell apart like Ilya's panel. The only other thing I was able to salvage was the pair of back doors which were in pretty rough shape but up here and piece of reconizeable sheetmetal is worth saving, especially rear panel truck doors.
It is very sad to see any old iron going to the scapper. Whenever I get a parts truck I tear everything out of it that has the slightest bit of value. I am fortunate enough to have a torch so if it can't be wrenched off it gets torched off. I am scrapping three chassis's this weekend and sending parts to three board members.
