I haven't thought about this, but figured after a search, I couldn't find what I was looking for so I better ask.
Truck in question, 91 Ranger, 2wd, 5spd, short box. I was wondering what the bed capacity is?? I've got an engine, engine stand, and some misc parts to pick up this weekend. Truck has fresh shocks in the rear and 1yr units up front.
I believe that the capacity of your rear end is 2550Lbs. You should have a 7.5 year end. find your axle code on the drivers side door. Far as wieght distribution usea sheet of plywood if you are concerned about putting holes in the bed.
correct 7.5" 10 bolt. Im not conerned about the bed really. actually pretty solid. This is my first truck so I wanted to make sure it was okay to haul that much in th bed
Your Ranger will do the job and beg for more!

Buffman, I've carried a complete Ford 400M V8 fully assembled with engine stand and some other odds & ends in my 91 Ranger supercab and had no problems any of the times I've done this. Your truck may squat a bit but it should handle it just fine. For better stability of the engine we had it laid down in the bed instead of keeping it on the engine stand. We laid it over on a couple of older tires. Have fun with your move.
yeah I got a tire to set it on so it's not top heavy. Going to get it next weekend since my friends trans finally died after 250k and the car was in front of the garage.
