Engine weight

How much does a fully dressed 6.8 L V-10 weigh. Anyone have this data, I need to decide between an engine lift or a jib crane in the garage. Thanks in advance.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-Sep-02 AT 10:03 AM (EST)](sorry monsta, just saw your post! so i guess it is safe to say
it'll come in between 450-800 pounds then)

I called my Ford service contact at a dealership and he
said a fully-dressed V10 would come in about 450-500 lb.

Thanks for the speedy reply guys, I think I'm going with a 1 ton roll around jib to be on the safe side, I will be able to use it for other projects I work on.

That is actually how I arrived at my figure.

The PSD weighs in around 1100 lbs.

The spring capacity difference between a PSD Excursion and a V10 Excursion is 400 lbs.

So, I figured that the V10 w/fluid would be close to 800 lbs.

The actual net (dry) weight of the V10 is 640lbs and the net weight of the powerstroke is 930lbs......

Would I have to upgrade my front springs to run a heavier weight oil?

Gee, I read on a page that the 6.8 weighed less than the 5.0 HO... This guy mentioned it because he swapped a V10 into a V6 Mustang, and it came out lighter than it would have been with the V8.

That's pretty impressive, because the HO weighs 430lbs or so.

Looks like I was about 100 lbs. optomistic! I guess with fluids (fully dressed) it'll come in close to 700 lbs.

The PSD comes in at 1010 lbs with fluids. Seems my memory screwed up the placement of numbers as I thought that it weighed 1100lbs.
