Truck was running rough again and had a shop do a CCT on it. They said #1 was bad...again.. I had this injector replaced last October and bought it from a company in Memphis Tennesse who Cares abouth their Diesels. They are more than willing to work with me if I send the injector in, but I have to buy a replacement to get me truck up now. Has anybody done business with this shop and how have your injectors been?
what's the name of the shop? or are you asking about a source for the replacement injector? i've done it myself, but i think your fingers didn't keep up with your thoughts at all on this one!
Sure it's a bad injector? Those don't die easily. Other electrical issues can also make it seem like a bad injector. Check the UVC harness, injector harness, etc.
Remember you can buy a NEW Alliant Power injector (AB Code for the Early 99) for $200 plus shipping if you shop around. Ford sell REMANUFACTURED ones for about 350. Alliant makes them for Ford.
BTW- I personally don't believe in the CCT ever since it came up with the wrong cyl when one of mine went bad. Plenty of people will tell you the CCT is the correct test, but in reality you need to have an injector performance analyzer or commonly called an injector breakout box hooked up so you can manually turn off each injector and figure out which one isn't working. The going rate for this service at the local Ford dealer and the local diesel shop is $150.
You can make your own tool by following the steps contained in this post, but it's kind of a project to make.
