V10 Super Charger Installed!
Twelve hours later, a sore back, and a big grin! Holy S@*#!...this thing is a HUGE improvement! Tons of low end torque, plenty of acceleration, and miles of posi strips down the road!
:-staun
For those that never saw my previos posts, goto "V10 Power, Where is it?"
2002 F250 XLT SC short bed, BFT, V10, auto, Centerline Saber 16.5x9.75 w/BFG 33x12.5 All Terrain, Diablo Chip, Diablo Tranny Valve, Power Rear Sliding Window, Black Leather Buckets, Rhino Liner, Diamond Plate Bed rails and front Box Protector, and Whipple SC!
Pictures are coming!
>I finally installed the new Whipple Supercharger unit.
Congrats! I'm am majorly jealous!

Were you planning to dyno your truck, and did you dyno before the blower? I believe Mrrottndog should have his Kenne Bell Blower on soon - it would be interesting to compare #s.
Also, do you tow anything?
I am interested in improved towing power, and wonder if additional low RPM power is more important (to me) than higher RPM power (3-4k RPM). It seems that going up hills always puts me in 2nd or 3rd gear!

We'll be looking for em
- Thanks for sharing your information!Mike,
2000 Excursion XLT 4x4 V10 - 6" Fabtech Lift, Weld Wheels, 35" BFG Mudders, Rancho RS9000 shocks w/ control + steering stabilizer, Helwig Sway Bar, SuperLift True-Speed, K&N, Banks Headers, Magnaflow, Goodyear Airbags w/ control (Blower's coming soon)
I know you're all looking for the Dyno sheets! Small problem: I live on Long island (in New York) and i know of only one dyno in the area (I have checked with all the local speed shops). I'm waiting for an answer on the cost of the dyno time.
Until then
>I'm waiting for an answer on the cost of the dyno time.
FYI, It costed me $75 for 2 runs on the same day at a local Speed tuning shop here in sunny CA.
I plan to put a Vortech Blower on soon which also includes a Diablo Chip, and I'll share the results. That's a centrifugal type blower - totally a different animal!
Plus I'm gona get that tranny valve you told us about on the other string!
Mt current dyno scans are available in my gallery, if you are interested.

Of all the Centrifugal units the Vortec SC is a great unit, However; I didn't like the fact that it couldn't be intercooled...The whipple unit has an intercooler in the works (due out in september). I was looking into an ATI Procharger (which can be intercooled), but it has been in development for two years now and they can't promise a release date
I also use my truck to snow plow, and a Vortec unit makes more boost the higher your rpm's go, The Whipple unit is a "Roots" type which is designed to allow full boost right off idle - which is where i need it.
I've got a few bugs I want to work out of the unit, and I want to install a Fuel pressure gauge and Boost gauge , but I think I'll get to the Dyno next week sometime.
>It's gonna cost me $150 for the Dyno setup and three runs.
Sounds like they know that they have the only dyno in town!
>I didn't like the fact that it (Vortech)couldn't be

I have ordered the Vortech with their newer Aftercooler (Intercooler), with adds 41+ hp & 35+ ft/lbs torque & lowers air discharge temp by 110+ degrees! Part Number for the whole blower kit is 4FT218-038SQ (or 030SQ) list price $5635
I probably would have gotten a screw type blower, but I got a screaming deal thru a customer on the Vortech! (gotta go with the flow!

I agree that the Vortec wouldn't be best for your application
- it looks like I'll be the first
around here to put one on a V10. Please let us know of your progress!

The floor under me is soaked with drool just thinking about those blown V10s. I'm SOOOOOO jealous!

High RPM torque matters a lot towing with most V-10's. More high rpm torque would hold when you dropped from 4th to the top of 3rd and
not slide down into 2nd.
My E-450 never fals down into 2nd even on the steepest grades
of I 75 through the mountains, and total weight is around
13,000+ lbs with cargo.
With a SC I bet I could hold 4th.

I just got mine back a few days ago. I had the kenne bell installed. I had planned on going to the dyno with a group of guys today.. But that fell through. It would have saved me $60. Their planning on trying to set up the trip again but I think I'm gonna go on my own and fork out the $120 it costs here.
You can feel a big increase in power but I'm not melting the tires from a standing start.... Combo of 8000lb X and 36/14.50 tires.
I'm only runnung 6lb's of boost. If I go to 8 I would need to dump in octane boost at every fill up.
How much boost are you running?

BOTH !!!!!!!!!
I'm in the process of talking with Ken Payne about reprogramming my chip to work better with the charger installed. With the little bit of boost at idle, the IAC circuit is screwed up, and it has a lower idle and intermitant stall condition when in gear and stopped.
Dont waste money on an "a" pillar pod. there are two blank spots on each side of the steering column, just below the gauges, I fit a 2 1/16" gauge on each side without any problem behind it, I'll post a picture on wednesday.

JIM-
Not to be obnoxious, but out of curiosity, if I spent good money installing a blower to raise my compression, why would i think about installing thicker gaskets to lower it?
