If I could only find a '53 to '56 big job I would be with you guys. I just set around and think crazy ideas so I don't think I'll go through with the swap on my '52, but I'm still looking for a '53 to '56 big job to work with.
Find a cab, and then we can help find you some fenders. That's all you would need. The fenders and trim are the only body differences between the small trucks, and the large trucks.
I've been searching around but no luck. People around here have hauled alot of the older trucks off to the scrapper. There's 2 or 3 people want's my '52 to haul off to the scrapper, they say they would like to have it to play around with, but I know what they want it for. I'll keep my eye out though. Thanks for the help. Joe P.
You're a little far, but a member has some Big Job fenders for sale in the classifieds, he has them listed as sold, I wanted them, but aren't in the position to buy a want, only the needs. There's a '56 cab on ebay, a little high on the price, but it's there. I have access to a '53 F-600 that is in pretty good shape. It would be a good candidate for donation excellent parts to a build. You could sale the left overs, and make some of your money back. It can be done, it just takes the desire to overpower the rational thinking that always makes us stop and holds us back. The Big Job crew is small, but we are always welcome to new players.
Figured I'd input a little more here. Haven't done any work lately to the truck, but have made some progress towards future progress. Grandma in lw has managed to secure a reverse mortgage, and will not lose the 20 acres. Awesome. The county wants the fire truck back on the property until the guy from Canada comes to get it (part of the fire defense requirement). In trade, I will be relocating the fire truck there, and will be given full rights and use of the shop. The semi will be going back out there, and taking up part of the shop. I'm going to try and rearrange the shop a bit so both trucks will fit inside, and keep them out of the weather. Finally, I will be able to work on the big ole' beast with out the weather being an issue. Now, if the weather would clear up enough for me to tow the trucks back out there, that would be great.
If your weather is anything thing like our`s there is no way to work outside or even in an unheated shop.
Good luck on your project, I`ve been following with interest so it`s nice to see an update. Keep `em coming.
Hey Joe, every time I post or reply It goes away whats up with that. I try to update
my progress once again a rebuilt FT391 installed, 5sd OD HD Clark, installed, new
air compressor new quick release valves, new 30/30 spring brakes, all on a 53 F900
shifts like a dream better than my F800 cause its a later Clark. It feels like its got
much more power than My 54 F8 both trucks are like twins all parts put in both
trucks are strictly oem so I can go to local Ford dealer for anything. Now the big
question should I go through the dump body which is off, or, I tell my son lets take
a ride (My 54 F8) got a new one 10 years ago complete for $3900 picked up. I know
prices go up so I figure $4500 for a new 10Yd body. Stick with it itlle pay off.
s.d. p. & sons
I can see your posts and replies. Anyhow, that's a big chunk of change you're gonna lay down, but, if you can afford it, replace it if it's shot, fix it if it aint.
Got more word from the lawyers handling case about mom getting killed. Should have either a check for an exstensive amount of money, or a counter offer from insurance no later than jan 15. Hopefully it's the earlier. In Oregon, the lawyer can file a "sanction" against the insurance company, becasue they lied on official communication to the lawyer about her policy amount. Well, we call it a lie, they call it tactics. Anyhow, boils down to should be able to pay off house, then get wife a car, or fix her current car, fix my car, then put plenty away for future, and still be able to get that PETERBILT AIR LEAF SUSPENSION I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED, and the 6" dia 9' tall stacks, the fuel tanks I really want, and the chrome front bumper, and the grille chromed, and the wiring, and the paint, and the tires, and the stainless, and the Alcoa's and then, and then, and then. And then, if things go well with the rest of the situation, maybe that 1943 Ford M4A3 75mm Wet Stowage Sherman Tank I have always wanted (yeah right). Then, I will bein the position to hold a public take over of central Oregon by the Ford Truck Enthusiasts club.

Sounds like you've got everything figured out, and sorry about your mom.
Thanks, and i on't really think I have anything figured out yet. emphasis on yet. But, maybe soon. The Sherman would be a fun grocery getter though. Dang it, now I wann go watch the 1984 James Garner movie "Tank." Which, by the way, stars a mi production M4A3 provided by the Indiana Armour museum. Oh, back to the subject. If all goes well, I will finally be able to finish building my dream truck, and will hopefully end up with one of the most unique, and awesome looking 53-56 Ford trucks capable of seeing the cover of a magazine (wishful thinking, but hey, anything's possible).
It's for sale all. The F-800 with the CAT diesel is on the chopping block If it sales, fine, if not, fine too. The ad's in the classifieds, or it will be after a few (don't know the time frame for it to appear). I guess we all have to make sacrifices sometimes (wish I didn't have to sacrifice my danged trucks all the time).
The internal rectal service. I've heard of them. Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Just remember, no matter how much you give them, it's never enough. I could really go off on these guys, but that would get me in trouble.
