Question Need some opinions on which body to use on a 71 F250 4x4 frame???

Hey guys, just purchased a 1971 F250 4x4, running and driving. The body is pretty rusty. I am looking for some feedback and opinions as to whether I should put a 67-72 body back on the frame when I do a body switch, or should I just use my 65 F250 4x2 body? It's rust free but is a little rough; very fixable. I know the 67-72 seems to have quite a bit more room in the cab and might even be heavier. What do you all think? Please tell me any and all details related to your preferences and firsthand experiences on this matter. I look forward to hearing back from you!

Your 65 sheet metal should be a direct fit. If there is any room difference it is minimum.

Yeah I've been told my 65 body will bolt right on. I was just looking to see what everyone thought about putting a 65 body on my frame or do you think it would look better to put a 67-72 body back on it? Thanks again

Thumbs up

I have a 66 body on a 79 frame. It's not a direct bolt up like it would be on a 65-72 frame.
I'd do it again in a NY Minute 4-Sure. I happen to like the look of the Slick 60's FomoCo trux myself.

To each our own. However both are equally easy to do. If your 65 Is more cherry than what you have,
& you'd rather save $$$$ of chasing down a replacement 67-72, the 65 will do the job just fine.

Besides you'll have a distinctive truck that's your's alone Plus, wont be any
"others" around like it.

So I Say gitter-dun, ya know?

Hey Pete,

That's kind of the lines I was thinking. I mean I like the 67-72 bodystyle, but I like the 61-66 a lot better. The reason I bought the 4x4 was because I was getting stuck a lot in my 2 wheel drive particularily when cutting wood, etc. So it would make sense to use my body. My question to you is how did you use your VIN #'s? Did you just use the VIN for your 79 frame or keep using the VIN for the 66? I'm very curious about that. Thanks, SHAUN
