Hi, new to this forum. I bought a '94 F-350 welding truck with over 80,000 miles last night from a friend at work. The problem is that the motor won't start. He said he replaced the injectors and the turbo and still no start. My friend's buddy is a mechanic at a Ford dealership. He said that this is one of Ford's best engines ever. He said that if this motor's oil pump quit working, then it wouldn't start and this the likely problem. I asked the previous owner if he checked the oil pressure, and he said not yet. I'm hoping the engine isn't shot. I'm going to tow it home this weekend and start troubleshooting. Where should I start troubleshooting? This is my first diesel ever. Thanks for any info, Monty.
You might try surfing in the 7.3L forum, but here is a thought on your issue. It might be the CPS (Camshaft position sensor). Here is a link to my gallery for a pic of its location. PLUS...lots of threads on the subject here on FTE. The 7.3L is a great engine, but this is a common issue. Lots of 7.3L owners actually carry an extra CPS in the truck...just in case.
