Greetings. working on brake system, have new booster/master cylinder in, GM style combo valve in, (thinking I should have used a adj. proportional valve instead) and just ordered a 2 lb residual valve for front disc, 10 lb resid. valve for rear drum. going to use hyd. brake light switch, in "T" on front line. hoping this is going to do the trick with finishing brake system. Wondering if this is all necessary or if someone has some ideas. any help will be appreciated. Brakes are under floor in original locale.
#1 symptom= excessive petal travel. Bled system, get good braking(disc) but way down near the floor. Also will check shoes for adj. near drum. Braking never used to be this difficult/

Reason: info
used that adj. already. Connects with adjustable rod. but not that much. still have to maintain petal location in relation to firewall. Some weeks I make 4 steps forward, & other weeks...seems like I go backward 3 steps. Giving myself the month of Sept. off from hotrod. Life is Good!
Most of your pedal is attained by the REAR brake shoes(if you have rear drums) If your rear shoes are out of adjustment, you won't have a pedal at all!!Did you say you installed the residual valves? cause you definately need the 10# residual valve for the rear for the pedal.Especially if the master cyl is located under the floor.Check all your adjustments!! Did you bench bleed the master cyl? I just bought a pressure bleeder, it forces the fluid down from the master cyl through the lines, you just open the bleeders in the correct order.
Hope this helps!!
