Why not ? The V-10 will run at red-line all day, mile after mile. It'll run there alot longer than you can ! The V-10's on the dyno hit the 94 mph speed limiter before they hit the rev limiter, with 3.73 gears. I'm not suggesting you run it like that, but my V-10 sees redline all the time with no adverse affects. Ken
Oh, I still have the urge to "Mash Da Gas" from time to time, but I also remember how many "bucks" I once dumped every other weekend into my street rockets (mostly to repair things I broke in the previous weekends outings). I guess I'm just getting too conservative. (I hate when that happens).

Yeah, but judging by your signature those were Chevs that let you down by breaking.
It doesn't hurt to dust it out on occasion.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Nov-02 AT 08:18 AM (EST)]My V-10 hauls around 12,000 or 13,000 lbs every time it pulls out of the driveway. I guarantee you at sees redline in most gears except top gear on most accelerations. It would drive like a moped without winding out the engine. The engine actually builds power better over time if you drive it that way. Have no fear.
Sounds a bit ****, but 5250 is the shift point for the auto tranny. IIRC, the actual RPM limit (aka redline) is around 5800 RPM. Drop gear shift lever into "1", mash the gas and watch the tach blow by 5200!
