Hello other Ford F100 Enthusiasts. (Just had to do it!)
I just started the rebuilt on my Ford F100 1960 truck. I've sandblasted the frame and have just about finished painting it with Rust Encapsulator. Now I need to begin putting it back together.
I saved and labelled all the bolts that were original but would love to find a bolt kit. Does anyone know of any bolt kits for this truck? Otherwise I will need to find a good bolt supplier so I can order them one at a time. Any suggestions for each type of supplier would be great! Thanks.
You need to get some photos up on the Gallary and tell us where you live. That way we can perhaps send you in the right direction for sources.
In most cases you can improve on the stock hardware (if you aren't going concourse stock) by checking out aircraft hardware supply houses or top-drawer hardware places. I'm not talking about Depot, Lowes and those other nonsense places. I'm talking about where Toolmakers and Engineers get their personal stuff.
Welcome aboard!
I am fortunate in that there is a great hardware supplier near my home...Ababa bolt. I am replacing all my connecting hardware with stainless steel and have found that I can buy a bag of 50 bolts for not much more than a couple of them loose. Determine what you need and buy in bulk...
Welcome!
I use Tractor supply for most of my normal everyday bolts and washers but I get my automotive type stuff at our local swap meet thats twice a year.
Charlie gave you some great info. Where he lives there is an Airport nearby.
Around Airports, there are a lot of small shops that sell surplus, unused bulk hardware, braided hoses, hydraulic fittings, heim joints etc. to the various folks that build planes. Let's face it, the guys who fly are more particular about the quality of their struff than we are.
You can get the stuff for pennies on the dollar and it far exceeds the stuff sold in retail.
