harmonic balancer question
Is there a difference in the harmonic balancers from an 83 block (4.9L 300) and a 91? Other than the V belt to Serpentine. I recently swapped blocks and used the 93 harmonic balancer on the 91 block. The problem is the timing marks don't align. My concern is a weight/balance issue that may mess up the new crank. Please help!!

The 300 is naturally balanced, so the weight should not be an issue. If you can figure out the timing mark thing, it may be as simple as getting the later model bracket for the scale and bolting it in place. Or you can measure the diameter of the balancer, and then go to summitracing or jegs and get a timing tape. You will need to find top dead center for #1 cylinder, and then stick the timing tape on the balancer to line the 0 mark up correctly.
