Hi everybody. I have an 04 6.0 4x4 with an automatic tranny. Lately, whether it's hot or cold, when I shift ffom park to reverse or park to drive, there is like a 2 second delay. I don't think this is normal. Is it something that you guys have experienced? I hav no chip in my truck. What can I do to fix it? Is it something that needs to be done at the dealer? I only have 35,000 motly highway miles, so there is plenty of warranty left. Thanks for the help. Kyle
Unless you bought an extended warranty there is only 1,000 miles left, unless you already went over the 3 year mark, then you have no warranty.
It's probably a sticking solenoid. You need someone with a pressure gauge and a real knowledge of the TorqShift trans to be able to diagnose what's wrong.
3yr/36k miles bumper to bumper--5yr/100k ENGINE warranty, so as Mark says you're very close if not out of warranty on months alone. I agree with the solenoid sticking also. Get it flushed and have BOTH filters changed, or change the bypass (front passenger corner of the truck in the silver canister) yourself and have the in pan filter done when they flush it. Mercon SP ONLY. Don't wait, it will only get worse.
I just changed the fluid and external filter at 30,000. The fluid still looked and smelled clean. I used the Mercon SP from the local ford dealer. Is there a way I can check line pressure through my SCT or some other way? I am a tech, so I know a little about cars, just not too much about automatics.
It is the case with 2006 and newer, sold starting in July, 2006. Before July, 2006 the warranty on everything was 3/36, except the diesel engine that was always 5/100.
