Front Seal Leak
Help! I have a 96 Ranger.While replacing the harmonic balancer,I noticed the keyout pin had broken in half. Half came out,The other half is stuck in the crankshaft gear.This of course prevented my removing the crankshaft gear.So I bought a new keyout pin,cut and shaped it to fit in place of the old half that came out.Installed a new balancer and it works fine.Only problem is.I have an oil leak at my front seal.Is there an additive to prevent that leak? I cannot get that crankshaft gear off.It's almost like it's welded on.I tried a gear puller.I was told that the engine would have to be pulled out.It only leaks after high speeds.After setting up a few hours ,it stops.I get about 700 miles till adding another quart.(270,000) on engine.Any suggestions are highly welcomed.

I used Castrol High mileage 10w40 with a quart of lucas and there hasnt been a drop of oil 3000 miles later ! Thanks for the info.Another question.Do you know the life expectancy for K and N Oil Filters?
