Meh, I get around 16mpg latly with...........4x4 dually 3.55 gears.

I take that number with a grain of salt, I'm rounding off canadian figures to american. KM's to Miles, Liters(1000mls) to US gallon.

Hey guys. I do this alot and have it down pretty good. Run 3-4 tanks and divide your mileages by the number of gallons. I round up to 2 decimal places. this is an essential practice for long distance riders (harley's) as you don't want to rely on a **** poor gas gauge while cruising diagnollay across Wyoming without really knowing what your remianing distance is concerning fueel.

3-4 tanks in a row gives you a really good average and enough accuracy to judge by imho.

My PSD gets 16 hwy, 18 FWY empty... and it accounts for differences in air temp, presure, fuel quality, and driving habits :-)

Think I posted in another thread but I ran a test on my 96 PSD after adding a Tymar intake & SuperChips Tow Safe program. My truck is bone stoke other that mentioned mods.. I was surprised...In mixed hyway & country roads driving .i averaged 22.5 MPG !!! I double checked my figures..
I set CC on 60-65 and drove by foot on country roads..
Towing so far I get from 12.5 -15 mpg depending on roads and SPEED.

Went 365 miles on 16.2 gallons of fuel..
I can't wait until I install my Tymar down pipe.
Wanted to gut cat but dear old Virgina may start diesel emission testing..

I don't have a cat and I had to go through emissions testing here in Tn. and passed just fine. I got the feeling they really don't know what they are doing at the testing center.

Justin: I tow a 26' enclosed car trailer with Drag car and parts for racing....
Don't know if it helps mileage but I run synsethic trans fluid & rear end lubes...but I feel safer...less heat. Also use Diesel-Kleen fuel additive..
On PA TPK (Mountians) I get 12-12.5.....on OHIO TPK (Flat !) I'll get 13-15...depending on SPEED.. I try to stay at 60-65 towing..Keep rpm's down and stay off boost and all is good..

Thanks I just wanted a comparison. I pull a 12,000 pound fifth wheel RV and get 12-13 on the flat ground and 10-11 in the mountains.

I haven't weighed the trailer loaded yet. But I figure somewhere around 10,000 lbs...give or take. Trailer is 3,485 empty & car is 4,200 + all my parts, tools cabinets, generator, etc.,etc,.

I want to run another empty mpg test just to see..

Check to make sure your exhaust back pressure tube is not plugged, do a search on it, its a tube of the sensor on the right front of the engine and the tube goes into the right manifold.

I was getting also 11 MPG, and had a fuel leak, no to important IMO, but I already change the fuel pump, hoses, etc, and I havent make a test after that but I would like to chek that tube.

Do you have some pics?
