Probably not normal, but the Make, Model and Year of the vehicle would help a lot. My crystal ball is in the shop this week.

Have either you or your wife bothered to read the owner's manual which tells you when the compressor is supposed to run?

If it operates differently that what the manual describes, then there's a fault.

the compressor runs in several positions, not just the AC. the air cond is to dry the air for defroster, and also to keep the compressor lubed when your not using it in the AC position. book does tell what positions it runs.

Calm down there projectSho. You don't have to hose people down testostrone in here.
It was just a question. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

Not a testosterone issue at all.

Since you and your wife were having the discussion, one of you could have opened the glovebox and looked up the answer to your question. It's right there.

Once you know how it's supposed to work, you can determine it it's working correctly or not.

I don't spoonfeed, I point people in the right direction to figure out basic stuff themself, especially when it's a case of

Well,
I don't want to spill my beer while trying to hold the book open. Any way I'm sure it's not a problem. My wife picks on my truck all of the time because she wants me to get a F 350 to pull a bigger camper so she picks the truck apart all of the time.
