umm you have an 05 and you paid to get a reflash? why? its a warrenty concern ford pays for that! you are getting ripped off and need to become the pissed off lawsuit ready customer when you go in next time, especially since they supposedly checked it out and said nothing was wrong and you found the busted wire, the very least a refund is in order. if they got the 528 the pinpoint test for that code involves ohming those wires, RIPPED OFF!!!!
I don't haven't had a warranty since 38,000 miles. The truck was rolled-over and insurance wouldn't pay for it obviously because they felt the damage exceeded the value. The cash value at that time was roughly 35,100 and their estimates were 28,000 to fix so they totaled. I allowed them to total, took the money, bought the truck back from the salvage yard for 5,000, and fixed it for a huge savings. Fords recognizes this truck as having been totaled and won't warranty. This is the major draw-back to having a truck with a salvage title, plus selling only to a private individual because you can't trade it to a dealer. Basically, the insurance company pizzed me off b/c the were pricing Ford replacement parts only, and the body panels they wanted to fix were eating them alive in labor costs, example- you can buy a replacement bed from a salvage tons cheaper than replacing two friggin bedsides and a tailgate. There was no mechanical damage to the truck, the thing still drove just fine but the doors wouldn't close.
As for the dealership that couldn't diagnose the wiring problems, I've contacted them and told them they would recieve no business from me in the future. I'm buying a second truck in the near future for my wife and they know this. I'm going to Kenny Vice Ford next time, they were very helpful on the phone with my problem, and graciously thanked me when I called them to give a full report on what I had found. They said, they might call a few customers in to the shop to check on a complaint similar, but not as frequent, as mine.
